IPL Match 23: Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals Prediction and Preview

One of the most morale-crushing things to experience as a team is to have a good start to a tournament only to have that momentum utterly destroyed. With their most recent loss against Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals have gone through just that. Given that it’s their third straight loss after the two victories at the start, RR are quickly running out of time to salvage their campaign. To that effect, their next match doesn’t promise much. Delhi Capitals are in terrific form with only one loss from their 5 games. They look like the most complete team, and chances are, will be one of the first to qualify for the playoffs. That being said, this is T20 cricket after all, and before this clash gets under way, let’s take a look at the two teams.

Rajasthan Royals Preview & Form

It’s almost as though winning the highest-ever successful run chase in the IPL has jinxed Rajasthan, as they haven’t won a single match since. In their last match, they were routed by MI. Suryakumar Yadav led the way to take Mumbai to 193 with a robust 79 off 47, and as for Rajasthan, they were something of a one-man army. Other than Jos Buttler with a solid 70 from 44, only Jofra Archer had a strike rate of over 100, and no one besides those two scored more than 15. To be fair to RR, Jasprit Bumrah was on point with his 20 for 4. Rajasthan have been having a lot of issues with their batting, and need to address them soon.

Delhi Capitals Preview & Form

With their slew of local talent shining bright, Delhi Daredevils have been flying high. Their last match was almost identical to Rajasthan’s, with the obvious difference that they were on the winning side. Multiple players contributed with decent knocks, but Marcus Stoinis stood out with his 53 off 26. In the other inning, Virat Kohli’s slow effort went in vain, and Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel stood out among the DC bowlers. Needless to say, Delhi Capitals have been stellar and just need to keep going the way they have been.

RR vs DC Match Prediction

Rajasthan needs a revival and now would be an ideal time to get one. Expect Sanju Samson and Steven Smith to find their form back, while Jofra Archer and Shreyas Gopal maintain their own. 

As long as Delhi doesn't let their success get to their head, they should be able to win this one. Expect Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis to get the runs, while Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje get the wickets.
