SCL Match 7: Mis Ainak Knights vs Speen Ghar Tigers Prediction and Preview

Although they last won the title in 2015, Speen Ghar Tigers had been the only team with two titles under their belt until Mis Ainak Knights equalled the feat last year. No longer considered a favourite to win the tournament, the Tigers find themselves in an unlikely position at the top of the table - especially as they are above four teams who have played one more match than them. The win against Amo Sharks did wonders for their run rate, and the lack of a clear outperformer further facilitated this bizarre situation. Next up for them are the current champions, the Knights. After a breathtaking first match win, Mis Ainak were surprised by Kabul Eagles, who chased down a decent total to beat them convincingly. The Knights showed tremendous resolve to win their first match, but were outplayed by Kabul in the second. While their batsmen are performing pretty well, their bowlers appear to be struggling to defend the totals. When up against Kabul, while a few of their batsmen did either waste deliveries or just not activate, they still managed a relatively decent 163. Kabul, however, overtook the total with 4 wickets in hand and an over to spare. Speen Ghar Tigers don’t have a stellar batting lineup, but their batting is definitely good enough to trouble MAK if they don’t bring much skill in the way of bowling.

It’s hard to be considered a has-been, but Speen Ghar Tigers really haven’t had any memorable runs in the last 4 years - with their best league standing being 4th in one season. That being said, the first match win against the Sharks will definitely do wonders for their confidence while also casting some light on their inadequacies. Despite a solid start in that match, the two-time champions couldn’t finish accordingly and ended up with a middling score of 150. While they did manage to restrict the Sharks to a dismal 101 - courtesy of a stellar five-for by Karim Sadiq, it has to be said that the Sharks have arguably the weakest batting lineup in the tournament. If they are to seriously aim for the title, SGT will have to step up their batting performance as well.

As two losses early on almost certainly eliminates their chances for a top-two finish, Mis will fight tooth and nail to keep their title defense going strong. Expect Mohammad Shahzad and Shahidullah to fire away with the bat, while Dawlat Zadran and Noor Ahmad bowl some cracking deliveries.

Despite their position at the top of the table, few people consider the Speen Ghar Tigers the favourites - something a win against MAK would certainly change. Expect Zubaid Akbari and Nasir Khan to perform in the runs department, while Karim Sadiq continues his amazing bowling form with help from Zahid Khan.
