After Minister Rajshahi finishes battling Chattogram, it will be tournament underdog Fortune Barishal’s last chance to overtake them and squeeze into the playoffs. Barishal have had it rough, and are only still in contention because of a recent miraculous performance. In their last match, they face Beximco Dhaka, who know a thing or two about miracle comebacks, having won four straight matches to seal their playoff slot. However, if they can get a big enough win, they can even go through in the hallowed top berth. Both teams will be trying their best to win this, and that’s what makes the greatest games. Given how far Dhaka have come from their miserable beginnings, they will undoubtedly try to get this win with all they have at their disposal. In their last match, Mohammad Naim gave them a brilliant start as the long-dormant Sabbir Rahman gave them a solid half century. Al-Amin and Akbar Ali then boosted the score even more with powerful cameos, taking the total to 179. But the real hero was the incredible Robiul Islam Robi. Although he was all but robbed of the Player of the Match award, he was the indubitable MVP with his 5-wicket haul off just 3.3 overs that completely shut down their opponents for a 20-run win.

After that incredible win against Rajshahi, Barishal may have thought that they were capable of just about anything. The very next match against a severely understrength Chattogram, however, put them in their place. Despite a steady start and decent performances by Saif Hassan and Tamim Iqbal, the bang average run rate meant that the team could only get to a middling 149 - and that too, thanks to Afif Hossain’s late aggression. On the defense, they let Chattogram get away with too strong a start to catch up, and although Sumon Khan did well for his 4-0-30-2, it wasn’t enough to stop Chattogram from winning with 7 wickets in hand. 

Predictions

With a golden chance for a miraculous late entry into the first Qualifier match, Dhaka won’t let this slip. Expect Mushfiqur Rahim and Yasir Ali to excel with the bat, while Robiul Islam Robi and Muktar Ali continue their good form. 

Barishal have tried hard and given good fights to good teams, and this is their chance to enter a situation where anything can happen. Expect Tamim Iqbal and Parvez Hossain Emon to get plenty of runs, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Sumon Khan pick up crucial wickets.
