BB T20 Cup Match 18: Fortune Barishal vs Gazi Group Chattogram Predictions

It’s always an awesome feeling to see an underdog roar its way to an unlikely win, and that’s exactly what Fortune Barishal achieved in their last match. Now they stand on the same amount of points as Minister Rajshahi, but have two games in hand against Rajshahi’s one. Unfortunately for Barishal, that extra game is against league leaders Gazi Group Chattogram, who are flying high once more with a win against Khulna to secure the top spot. Chattogram have two games in hand, and all they need to do in order to stay on top is to not lose horribly. This battle between top and bottom can either help the bottom or just leave things unchanged, and before it begins, let’s take a look at the two teams.

Tamim Iqbal’s team managed to get only their second win of the league stage so far with an emphatic win over Minister Rajshahi. In the first match of the tournament to yield a 200+ score, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Anisul Islam Emon trounced just about every Fortune Barishal bowler to power their way to 220, with the former getting the first century of the event so far. Kamrul Islam Rabbi picked up a brilliant hattrick, but it was in the final over. On the chase, things started well enough with Tamim Iqbal scoring a nice 37-ball 53, but it wasn’t until Parvez Hossain Emon’s incredible, almost ridiculous 42-ball century that the game truly came under Barishal’s control, with his team surmounting the massive target with 8 wickets and almost 2 overs to spare.

Gazi Group Chattogram preview & form

One might have thought, halfway through their inning, that Chattogram were about to lose the game and potentially concede the top spot to Khulna. Mohammad Mithun’s men, however, had other plans. With Rajshahi batting first, Shoriful Islam picked up 3 wickets and Mustafizur took two as their opponents scored a decent-enough 157. While chasing, Chattogram kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but a quick blitz by Shamsur Rahman put an end to the match with a six off the very last delivery. With the lead sealed, Chattogram can even afford to rest some key players now. 

Predictions

Barishal have pretty much come back from the dead, but not fully yet. Expect Tamim Iqbal and Parvez Hossain Emon to play fiery knocks, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Taskin Ahmed continue their good form. 

Chattogram are already through, but they’d surely love an extra win for the road. Expect Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar to get lots of runs, while Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam pick up plenty of wickets.
