BB T20 Cup Match 12: Beximco Dhaka vs Minister Rajshahi Predictions and Preview

BDH vs MRA Prediction analysis: It’s always good to get your first win in a tournament, but when that win comes after 3 losses to start with, it’s more nervous relief than exhilaration. Beximco Dhaka are currently still languishing at the very bottom of the short table, and they will be hell bent on climbing up the ladder. Up next, they’re facing Minister Rajshahi. After a terrific start, the northerners seem to have hit a rough patch as they faced two defeats in a row - with the most recent one being the very definition of agony. They’re still in second place behind a rampant Gazi Group Chattogram, and still in line for the prime playoff spots, but that could very easily change if they lose their next match. It may be the battle between second place and fifth place, but given the narrow margin separating them, it will be hard-fought. Before the players hit the outfield, let’s take a look at how they’ve been doing.

Beximco Dhaka Preview & Form

After 3 straight defeats, few would have thought that Dhaka’s first defeat would be a comprehensive one. Luckily enough, they were up against Fortune Barishal, who seem to have gotten the short end of the auction stick. Robiul Islam Robi put up a stellar bowling performance as he grabbed 4 for only 20 runs off his quartet of overs, and Shafiqul Islam and Nayeem Hasan gave him excellent support with figures of 3-2-10-2 and 4-1-8-1 respectively. Afterwards, despite a ridiculous start involving two runouts, they managed to march to a comfortable victory with 7 wickets in hand and over an over to spare. Going forward, they badly need to improve the performance of their top order. 

Minister Rajshahi Preview & Form

Statistically, losing by close margins is better than bigger ones, but the agony that the former brings is sometimes far worse than the humiliation of getting routed. Rajshahi knew they were in trouble when Chattogram got off to a good start, and although they managed to control the flow of runs through the grace of Mukidul Islam’s 3-wicket haul, a late flourish saw Chattogram rise to a formidable 176. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s men started the chase well, but then began to lose wickets at regular intervals. In a final over right out of Dhallywood, there were, in chronological order, a wicket and two dots, a six and a four, and a gut-wrenching two when Rajshahi needed 3 to tie. At the very least, they can perhaps find - after a long search, solace in the fact that they gave Chattogram their toughest fight yet.

BDH vs MRA Predictions

There were at least a few Dhaka players who roared in celebration as Rajshahi faced a defeat marginally closer than the one they themselves faced in the first encounter between these two. Expect Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Naim to get the runs flowing, while Robiul Islam Robi and Shafiqul Islam get some important wickets.

Rajshahi have done it once, and they can do it again. Expect Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mahedi Hasan to be solid with the bat, while Mukidul Islam and Rony Talukdar prove to be tricky with the ball.
