South Africa vs England 3rd T20I Prediction, Betting Tips and Match Preview

SuperSport Park (Centurion)
As far as series go, few can boast having two back-to-back matches go right down to the last ball for the result, yet here we are. After easing their reputation as chokers in the previous game, the Proteas doubled down on their stereotype by making a meal of what was, two deliveries from the end of the match, a certain victory. Nevertheless, a spectacular showing from both teams at the Kingsmead leaves this instant classic of a series dead even as we head to the third and final match at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium.

Second T20 Match Analysis

After de Kock chose to field, South Africa quickly got Buttler dismissed, but Bairswot and Roy held strong and made a strong start to the inning. Although the run rate was going strong, England lost wickets at regular intervals. When Denly fell in the 16th over, the Three Lions looked poised for a strong T20 score of 170-180. Moeen Ali, though, had different plans. In only 11 deliveries, he decimated the Proteas bowling with a rampaging 39, helping take his side past the hallowed T20 mark of 200 alongside a strong and steady Stokes. Although expensive, Ngidi was key with 3 important wickets, as was Phehlukwayo with his couple, but Pretorius with his economy rate of 5.66 in an inning with a run rate over 10 was brilliant (his solitary wicket being the icing on the cake), with many left scratching their heads as to why he didn’t get a fourth over.

South Africa’s chase started relatively slow, but picked up after de Kock began massacring the English bowlers. Racing to a 22-ball 65 that saw 8 sixes and only two fours, he put his side in what looked like a promising position. Things continued well with Miller and van der Dussen taking charge, and although the run rate piled up and wickets fell in the middle-late overs, some splendid batting from van der Dussen and Pretorius meant the home side needed just 3 off the last two to seal the series with 5 wickets in hand. Two balls from Curran and two wickets later, a shell-shocked South Africa side stood transfixed as the English celebrated their two-run win. Although Jordan was the pick of the bowlers, a wicketless and uncharacteristically expensive Moeen Ali was chosen as Man of the Match for his heroics with the bat.

South Africa vs England 3rd T20I Prediction, Betting Tips

After coming so close to a strong series win, South Africa will undoubtedly be looking to right their wrongs to come out victorious. As we predicted, captain de Kock continues to lead by example, and he will be hoping his fellow batsmen take a leaf out of his book. In the bowling department, other than leaking two runs, the Proteas should be happy with the incisiveness of its quicks. They were this close, and they just need to brush up on their performances and deliver the killing blow. Expect de Kock Ngidi to deliver again, and Bavuma, van der Dussen and Phehlukwayo to repeat important contributions.

The ODI World Champions should, on paper, be higher up the T20 rankings given their lineup and performance, and they will be looking to do just that come the final game of the series. Though strike bowler Archer is still out, English bowlers have made a point or two this tournament, and will be looking to make more tomorrow. If anything, England batsmen need to be a little more consistent from opener Roy. Expect Roy to play an important role again, and Buttler to rectify his poor showings.
