If, on August 17th, someone had said “St Lucia Zouks are going to play the CPL final after defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors in 4.3 overs with all 10 wickets intact, anyone who knows anything about the CPL (or in fact, cricket itself) would have laughed at them. Yet, thus were the extraordinary circumstances under which one team absolutely sublimated under pressure, while the other rose to the challenge and made the best of every single opportunity. However, they must now face the invincible raid boss of this year’s IPL - Trinbago Knight Riders. Themselves comfortably defeating the Jamaica Tallawahs, the TKR look like a force to be reckoned with. Throughout our coverage of the CPL, we have lain praise upon the 3-time champions, and they have deserved every bit of it. Now, they stand poised on the cusp of their fourth title, and as the team that has never lost a CPL final they have been to (the very antithesis of GAW), Trinbago will more than fancy their chances. In their semi final against Jamaica, they walked all over a flaccid Tallawahs side, overtaking their miserable 107 with 5 overs to spare and 9 wickets in hand. Akeal Hosein, Khary Pierre, Sunil Narine, Lendl Simmons, and Tion Webster all put in solid performances to once again show why the Tallawahs could only muster a measly 7 points in the group stages. Going into the finals, Trinbago will be banking on their sizable arsenal of cricketing talent. Let’s hope they don’t disappoint like Guyana did.

St Lucia Zouks Preview & Form

The tiny island nation has shown tremendous will and resourcefulness to get to where it has been dreaming of being at for 7 years. More than anything, it has been the incredible chemistry between their motley crew of seemingly average Joes who have come together to form a true team. Granted, they lost twice to TKR already this season, but the way they routed Guyana in their semi almost seemed like they saw Trinbago’s performance against the Tallawahs and said “Hold my beer” before exceeding all expectations. Granted, Guyana showed way too much nerve and many of the batsmen threw their wickets away, but the way the Zouks dominated to achieve the fastest victory in franchised T20 history was nothing short of incredible. Never having played a final, the pressure will definitely be on them, but they will also have the freedom of having nothing to lose against a seemingly far superior opponent.

TKR vs ZOUKS Match Prediction

Being the hardcore professionals they are, it can be assumed that Trinbago players will leave no stone unturned. Expect Lendl Simmons and and Kieron Pollard to get the runs, while Akeal Hossain and Sunil Narine perform with the ball.

The Zouks have already proved their mettle this year, but with one last hurdle standing in their way, they will at the very least play their hearts out. Expect Andre Fletcher and Roston Chase to score the numbers, while Roston Chase and Scott Kuggeleijn trouble the Trinbago batsmen.
