Jamaica Tallawahs Preview & Form
Not too long ago, the Tallawahs had a chance to overtake Guyana and take second place, but given that their match against the Patriots got washed out and following their surprise defeat to the Tridents, the Jamaicans will be restricted to fourth place. Given that their very next match is supposed to be an eliminator against the Zouks again, they might just underplay their hand and rest some key players or not show their full hand. This might also backfire, though, as if the Zouks take second it will be the much-more-powerful-on-paper Guyana that fights the Tallawahs. At least their match against the Tridents wasn’t as much a bad performance as it was a rare good outing by Barbados.
St Lucia Zouks Preview & Form
After showing a lot of promise early on, the Zouks seem to have been brought crashing back to reality with two back-to-back defeats as well as Guyana’s rise past them. The most disappointing part of their entire season has probably been the lack of any tangible effort from captain Darren Sammy, who has been performing poorly all season despite appearing passionate. The team mentality also needs work. Chasing 175 against the Knight Riders, they seemed to play not to win, but just to do damage control. Hopefully, this will change for their last match.
Match Prediction
With nothing to directly gain or lose, the Tallawahs might just put up a solid performance just to avoid playing Guyana in the first eliminator. Expect Andre Russell and Jermaine Blackwood to star with the bat, while Oshane Thomas and Mujeeb Ur Rahman show their skills with the ball.
Nothing to lose, a strong advantage to gain; the Zouks will give this one all they’ve got. Expect Roston Chase and Andre Fletcher to take the fight to the bowlers, while Mohammad Nabi and Scott Kuggeleijn do damage with the ball.
